CLIENT CARE

Authentic Life: Clients’ Needs – God’s Answers (Advanced Track)

Dr. Kathy Koch, President, Celebrate Kids, Inc.
Clients’ core needs aren’t what they think they are. They don’t need to be popular, beautiful, or perfect. Their needs won’t be met with a boyfriend, sex, a baby, or an abortion. What do they need? To be secure, know their identity, have healthy belonging, understand their purpose, and have competence. When these five needs are met in healthy ways, they’ll make wiser decisions and also recognize their need for God. Learn how to help clients meet these needs through your conversations and programs. [Authentic Life is an initiative between Celebrate Kids and EvanTell’s Save the Mother, Save Her Child Centers.]

Rosetta Stone: Speak the Language of your Donors and Clients (Advanced Track)

Mike Williams, Speaker and Comedian
Every organization has an inner circle language of their own. Churches have churchese, Teenagers have txtlk, Apple users speak fluent Mac. PRC’s have a language style that is not understood by younger donors, new donors, or even clients anymore. We have become a VCR (8 track for you 50+) communicators in a USB world. We must rethink, learn, and requisition how we connect with 2016 donors and clients. Let Mike teach you how to get in the 2016 linguistic groove for more abortion minded clients and more money.

Pregnancy Decision Coaching: Reaching the Abortion Minded and Vulnerable Client

Terry Williams, Care Net Center Services, Specialist
Whether you are a seasoned coach/peer counselor, or have just been trained, this workshop will provide valuable tips and tools for effective pregnancy decision coaching, including sample dialogues and flow charts as well as how to maximize the impact of training volunteers to reach the client who is abortion minded or vulnerable.

Whole Brain Connection

Nancy Williams, Care Net Center Services, Specialist
This workshop is an examination of how the brain functions to process both cognitive information and to process emotions, attitudes and impressions. If both aspects of learning are not employed, it’s likely that the learner—our client—may have trouble understanding or implementing our information in a way to help them to make good choices. A basic knowledge of helping skills is assumed.

Coaching the Traumatized Client

Eric Scalise, President, Liv Enterprises & Consulting, LLC
A crisis event leaves a significant impact on an individual and is often characterized by a period of instability, danger, or loss, even leading to psychiatric and medical emergencies. Crisis pregnancies can produce strong reactions and intensify other trauma based dynamics. This workshop will describe the ABCs of Crisis Care and how to use a systematic approach to address various precipitating factors such as abuse, domestic violence, rape, and suicide. Biblical principles are integrated throughout the discussion.

Why Do Clients Make the Decisions They Make?

Dr. Kathy Koch, President, Celebrate Kids, Inc.
Like us, clients make decisions to fulfill needs. But, disaster can loom when they confuse wants with needs. They may continue making similar unhealthy choices, even after getting reliable information. They must learn what their core needs are that, unbeknownst to them, are driving their decision making. You need to know, too.
*This workshop is designed to be taken with Authentic Life: Sharing the Gospel Using Core Needs located in the Evangelism Tab

Sex Trafficking: Raising Awareness in the Pregnancy Center

Karolyn Schrage RN, BSN, Executive Director, Life Choices Health Network
Human Trafficking affects individuals and communities worldwide – no community is exempt! It is both a criminal act and a human rights violation. The impact on the health of our clients and community is enormous. It affects people of every demographic, age, gender, race, nationality, class, sexual orientation, religion, disability and immigration status. It is widely recognized as an emerging health care priority. Health care providers are well positioned to identify and assist trafficked individuals as well as engage those who may be at-risk but not yet actively exploited. Learn the key role you may have in identification, assessment and responding to make a difference in the life of even one victim.

Coaching the Abortion Minded Client

Panel
Whether you’ve been meeting with clients for one year or 30+ years, there is still so much to be learned about effective counseling strategies in this “abortion on demand” culture. Join a panel of pregnancy center leaders in a compelling discussion on coaching women or couples who are considering abortion.

Getting the Whole Story: How Our Perceptions Affect Counseling

Ayinde Russell, Program Manager, A Promising Future
Are we able to see our clients as they are, or only as we expect them to be? After all the statistics have been accounted for, after we’ve examined the demographics, and once we’ve weighed our own commitments to faith and politics, who is our client after all? This workshop will ask participants to explore the presumptions we carry into counseling, and what barriers those presumptions can create. In the end, we want to be able to appreciate how our own stories came to be, and how examining our own assumptions can help us better appreciate the story of our clients.

After the Choice: Reviewing the Literature on Abortion Risks

Donna J. Harrison, M.D., Executive Director, AAPLOG
One of the rationalizations for unfettered access to abortion is the belief that abortion is good for women. The truth is that abortion carries real risks that can hurt women physically and mentally. This presentation will review 40 years of research in the effects of abortion on women. Why aren’t women being told this information? Come learn the truth so you can share the facts with the clients you serve.
