Care Net Conference 2016-Partnering with the Church

PARTNERING WITH THE CHURCH

I Come Bearing Gifts

Jim Sprague, CEO, Pregnancy Resource Center
In this interactive workshop, participants will consider three fundamental ways PRCs can partner with the local church, and move from asking for gifts to being one.

Engaging the Church: How to Partner with the Gatekeepers

Pastor Panel
This moderated panel will allow you to interact with several pastors who will help you identify and avoid the pitfalls of certain approaches that keep you from successfully connecting with churches. Focused on what real pastors have to say about real solutions for engaging the church, a Q & A time will allow you to present your most pressing questions, needs and challenges to the very person who can help you craft effective strategies for partnering with a church’s gatekeepers.

Communicating Pro ABUNDANT Life in Church Presentations

Dr. Marc Newman, President, Pro-life Speaker
Analyzing the prolife message often requires speakers to break the issue down into its component parts. But there is a time when speakers for centers and clinics need to help churches see the big picture: how babies fit in with God’s plan for an abundant life. Dr. Marc Newman explains how you can craft a center presentation for a church audience that not only speaks truth about the unborn, but also helps them to see the connection between your ministry and impacting their community to strengthen families and spread the Gospel.

Making Life Disciples: Going to the Church with Your Hands Full

Mary Chapman, Care Net Director, Church Outreach & Engagement
Making Life Disciples (MLD) – equipping the church to offer compassion, hope, help, and discipleship to women and men considering abortion. MLD is the new Care Net church curriculum. In this workshop learn how MLD will help create or deepen partnerships with the local church. Learn how to use MLD to:

  1. Present your center as community experts on life affirming options that women and men considering abortion need if they are to experience the abundant life in Christ.
  2. Equip, educate and activate the congregation so they become Life Disciples who make disciples for
  3. Provide an out of the box resource for your church partners that will take their involvement with your center to the next level.

The Church’s Holistic Approach to Pregnancy Care

Chris Wheel, Director of Family Services, Turn Around Agenda Family Services
When a single mother or couple is facing an unplanned pregnancy, she or they may be more likely to consider an abortion if their basic need of food, shelter, and clothing has been compromised by certain events. The church should be committed to providing holistic services that help single mothers and/or couples navigate through life’s crises and pursue the abundant life. This workshop will focus on strategies and concepts geared to improving the overall quality of life for the single mother and/or couple. With a goal to educate, elevate, and equip them, attendees should learn about services in the areas of housing, nutrition, rent and utility assistance, clothing assistance, crisis counseling, and pregnancy services.
